By | C4D, free, gear, Product, render, Training | No Comments

Hello all and happy new year. Hope you are all rested and recovering from the festivities. Things are hotting up here already but for now I just wanted to share this tutorial I created for Digital Arts, all about using Radeon ProRender inside maya. It’s a great renderer, with a lovely material library and works a treat. Follow the link to read the tutorial and don’t forget ProRender is free, so grab it and give it a try. I had a lot of fun writing it and it was also a great reason to bring back MilgBot.

Promats Vol 1: Coming soon

By | C4D, news, Product, render | No Comments

I’ve been hard at work on new ways to help you get better results easily and it’s nearly ready. Promats is a collection of material packs, each with a particular focus, to give you the best results possible. Each pack will have Diffuse, Displacement, Normal, Weight and more channels as texture files ready for use with any material editor and render engine. Better yet, the packs will contain ready made materials for Cinema 4D, Cycles4D and Maxwell, so if you use them, then you are set to go the moment your download completes. The materials are all high resolution, so…

sung Galaxy S8 concept on Techradar

By | C4D, render | No Comments
Hi all, you'll all have varying views and opinions on what phone companies will do next but there is no denying that that is a good thing. It's funny watching the comments roll in when videos are posted showing what could be coming. I love doing these jobs and recently got to do this one for the Samsung S8. The modeling, rendering and some animation was all done by me, but the post work has tweaked timings and the render just doesn't look as nice now. A real shame as Maxwell did a great job but there you go. YouTube...

Cinema 4D Quick Tip: Using layered materials

By | C4D, Training | No Comments
https://youtu.be/on0o956cRiU In this quick tip I talk about how you can use layered materials (not to be confused with the layer shader) inside Cinema 4D to enable quick and easy control of the size and placement of certain elements of your materials, with resorting to simple tiling, which may affect other aspects of the material. For a selection of over 340+ fully procedural materials head over to thepixellab.net and check out the pack.   .

Fusion 8 tutorial: 3D fog

By | C4D, free, fusion, Training | No Comments
Hi all, I get a lot of tutorial requests and in the last few weeks a good few people have been asking me to cover 3d fog in Fusion, so I decided to sit down and quickly record one. I start off in C4D putting together a really simple scene, so you can see that imported files work just as well as native fusion objects. Then, in fusion, I show how to set things up and get your fog in place. It's a very basic video but gets you started and shows how the nodes link up. If you would...

Cinema 4D Essentials 02. Modeling with splines

By | C4D, film, free, Training | No Comments
This series is all about getting back to basics. If you are new to 3D or cinema 4D then it's a great place to start, as it shows you how to get the most out of a few simple tools. This second video introduces the spline tools and I go through four methods of creating geometry using splines. This is a really quick way to model certain things and in some cases the only real way. Also a huge thanks to my patreon supporters: James, Juan, Mohammad and Peter. Your support means the world to me! For more info and...
