One of the last projects I worked on at Future (3D World) was Computer Graphics Masters, a book for which I was commissioning and contributing editor.

The book, created on behalf of HP and NVIDIA, is a collection of opinion pieces, features and case studies, looking at some of the most prominent technologies, people and projects in our industries. Split into Film, Broadcast and Commercial sections there is plenty to read and lots to learn about how some of the most memorable visuals of the last few years have been made.

Anything from Oblivion, Gravity and Guardians of the Galaxy is there in the film section, with a supporting cast of technologies that help artists be more creative and productive. Broadcast covers virtual sets, graphics overlays for the Olympics and so much more. The commercial section looks at some great short format pieces like the elephant MPC made for moneysupermarket, to more technical info based on rigging and hair/fur solutions.


The book is a great read and although you will see content showing what both HP and NVIDIA can provide you as an artist, it never feels like an ad. This is much more about impressive projects and fantastic visuals.

I had a great time playing my part in putting it together and need to thank a few people who made my life a whole lot easier.
