My buddy Joren Kandel, from the Pixel Lab, recently revealed his latest product, the Pipes Generator. This is one of those plugins that you probably never knew you needed but is both fun and useful. If you do any kind of archviz work, or use 3D environments at all then this could be really handy. If you want to see it in action I’ll be adding a video to this post, so you can see how it works and what can be done with it. Pop back for that or sign up to the newsletter for news on new reviews and tutorials.
The product is simple to use but without limiting it’s capabilities too much (it’s pretty focused so not too hard) and the interface gives you a set of items and some basic settings. The power (and immense fun) of this is in simply playing with setups. It’s very satisfying building even the simplest of pipe layouts, with pumps, valves etc. If you are using it for a more defined use, such as an architectural render, then you have the power to set things up just as needed while retaining the fun aspect. Even if you don’t have a specific use for the kit I would still recommend it. It’s cheap enough to be a worthwhile purchase even for occasional use and don’t forget you could adapt it’s purpose to add some pipe love to your motion graphics projects too.
If you want to give the Pipes Generator a go yourself you can get it here.
