The Oysterhouse Boys – a synthwave side project

By October 19, 2019 Uncategorized No Comments

I’ve been playing music for as long as I can remember, mostly guitar but also piano, drums, bass, violin (badly) and various other instruments a little. You may know I also build custom guitars, which is as much about getting away from a computer and using my hands, as anything else.

Recently I started a new side project combining a few of my passions and this has turned into something more serious, so thought I’d talk about it here. The Oysterhouse boys is a music project that I have been working on for a few moths. It’s essentially a dark synthwave thing, full of various synthesiser music, a little retro John Carpenter and Tangerine dream and little more modern SURVIVE style. Seeing as I’m predominantly a guitar player that has had a big influence on my writing too.

Anyway, I am working on an album and currently have a bunch of demos on my sound cloud, with final tracks underway (once my mammoth travel plans are behind me over the next month or two).

For now, you can check them out on my sound cloud

Even if you aren’t into the music please hang around and listen a bit. I’ll be using some of this as foundation for a set of new Cinema 4D tutorials, based on sound, creating some cool visuals, as well as showing you how to drive animations using audio.

That’s it for now. I’m off to View Conference in Turin for the next week, then back at it with a vengeance !
